Patsy Cline's Widower Charlie Dick Dies

NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess) — Charlie Dick, widower and manager of country legend Patsy Cline's estate, died on Nov 8th at his home in Nashville. He was 81.

A native of Virginia, Dick worked as a printer for a newspaper in Winchester, Virginia, where he met Cline, whose real name was Virginia Patterson Hensley, in 1956. A year later, they married and remained so, producing two children, until Cline's untimely death in a plane crash in 1963.

Following her death, Dick played a key role in continuing to promote Cline's music, and public image. Dick, through MCA records, facilitated the re-release of her catalog, including her 1967 greatest hits album, which held the record for the best selling album by a female vocalist until the 1990s when Shania Twain dethroned her, according to Billboard.

Dick also was involved in documentaries, starting with two biographical videos on Cline, but he soon expanded to other artists, including Ernest Tubb and Willie Nelson.
