Stabler’s big brother has arrived! Dean Norris is set to make his debut in the Law & Order universe as Elliot Stabler’s older brother, Randall Stabler, on Law & Order: Organized Crime. So, who is Randall Stabler and what is there to know about him? Keep reading for all the details on the the new character in Elliot’s family tree.
Law & Order: Organized Crime is the sixth spin-off in the Law & Order franchise. It follows Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) as he returns to the NYPD to battle organized crime after his wife’s murder. The series first premiered in 2021 and is currently on its fourth season.
Meloni previously starred as Elliot on Law & Order: SVU for seasons 1-12. During that time, several of Elliot’s family members were introduced to fans, including his now-deceased wife Kathy, his four children and his mother. Now, viewers will be meeting two of his five siblings, starting off with his older brother Randall, who will mark his first appearance in the upcoming Season 4 episode “Deliver Us From Evil.” Later on in the season, Elliot’s younger brother Joe Jr. (played by Michael Trotter) will also make an appearance.

Who is Randall Stabler on Law & Order: Organized Crime? Randall Stabler is Elliot’s older brother and the son of Joseph and Bernadette Stabler. Per TVLine, Randall left the family when he was young and created a successful career as a real estate developer. He and Elliot have a tense relationship due to a past incident involving their late father, a former a police officer. Joseph was fired from the force and lost his pension when he refused to testify about fellow police officers.
Randall will make his first appearance during Season 4 Episode 2, which airs on Jan. 25, 2025. In a promo for the episode, viewers got their first glimpse of Randall as he was picked up by Elliot. Once in the car, he tells the detective, “Hey brother, you glad to see me?” and laughs.
Elsewhere in the promo, Elliot’s boss, Sergeant Ayanna Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt), finds out that he has a brother for the first time. Truitt spoke about Randall’s debut during an interview with TV Insider. “These first few episodes, [his brothers are] just being introduced,” she said ahead of the Season 4 premiere, adding that she hopes their characters will cross paths. “We’ll see as the episodes go on, if the worlds collide, if his brothers collide with his work life. I hope it does. I hope we get to play with them as well.” Truitt continued, “I’m sure Bell will end up having some kind of conversation with Stabler about the fact that he has brothers. Hopefully it’ll come up and they’ll be able to have that discussion and see what he’s feeling about it.”
While it’s unclear how big of a role Randall will have on the show, his first episode deals with a deadly bombing that the task force is investigating, per the logline.
Norris is best known for his role as Hank Schrader on Breaking Bad. He has also appeared Scandal, The Big Bang Theory, Under the Dome and the Breaking Bad sequel, Better Call Saul. In 2014, he co-starred with Meloni on the film Small Time. After news of his casting on Organized Crime broke, Norris wrote that he was “very excited to be working with my old bud Meloni,” on Instagram.
